Research backlog
Open items we are still working on. Everything here is honest work in progress.
Place names to check
- Tullyneeny assembly/fair site: Irish form and exact position.
- Tycooly (Ticooly): map position from OS grid M736462 (Ticooly O'Kelly, Killosolan parish, Tiaquin barony; Landed Estates Database, University of Galway, property 825), converted from Irish Grid; on-the-ground check still to do.
- Tycooly naming: O'Donovan gives Toigh Cúile; the form Tuath Chaladh in early notes is not supported.
- Lios Mór, Pallas and Doon: confirm Irish forms on logainm.ie (Ballydoogan = Baile Uí Dhúgáin and Ballynabanaba = Baile na Banaba are checked).
Approximate coordinates
- Ballynabanaba, Tullyneeny, Tiaquin and Caltra map points.
- All era polygons, the O'Donovan 1843 outline (sketch, not traced), river and esker lines.
- The poets' route: reconstructed from maps; awaiting Garry Lohan's photos.
Missing media
- Scene videos and ambient audio (scenes 1–8): not yet produced; pages show "coming soon".
- Route photos.
Resolved
- c. 1139 Suck diversion: pinned, Annals of Tigernach T1139.4.
- FitzPatrick p. 148: resolved. FitzPatrick pp. 147–149 favours Doon Fort (An Dún) over the other proposed sites (see the 1351 card).
- Knockdoe: moved to the hill summit (M404368).
Pending
- True boundary: Garry Lohan's survey; will replace the sketched polygons.
- Loch na nÉigeas: identified as Boggaun Lough, south-west of Doon Fort (FitzPatrick); exact map position still approximate.
- UM-C10 (c. 1400 widest extent): needs Curley 2022 chapter/page for 1,706 km² (Garry to photo). Stays NEEDS SOURCE.
- Tullyneeny assembly site: location approximate.
- "Feodora" note in the plan: meaning to confirm.
